Blogs & Bookstagram & Beginnings, oh my!

Blonde girl Yuki Reads holding three Palo Alto, California library books: The Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing, The Dilemma by B.A. Paris, Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter

Hey all! Welcome to Yuki Reads, my new little book blog that I am so excited to share with you. For the past year and a half, I’ve shared my bookish thoughts as @yuki.reads on Instagram. Bookstagram turned into my favorite little corner of the internet, and that definitely won’t change. With this new platform, though, I’m excited to expand on my content with longer book reviews, recommendations, and articles.

Like so many others, I fell in love with books when I first learned to read. My passion started with entertaining series like Magic Tree House and Junie B. Jones, and deepened when my parents read the first Harry Potter book to me at age 8. Since then, I’ve had my ups and downs with reading; high school brought little to no time nor motivation for personal reads.

When I first entered college, I spent my time binging Criminal Minds and Jane the Virgin. When I got bored of that, I turned to my Kindle, and instantly spiraled into a new book obsession.

Flash forward to now: I’m graduated and in the working world (currently in development/marketing at a Bay Area nonprofit), but my appreciation for everything bookish has never been stronger. My work is located inside a library, and before the shelter-in-place rule hit, I was spending wayyy too much time perusing the shelves (and the little used bookstore there).

I was flooded with recommendations and upcoming releases after starting my Bookstagram, and since then I’ve been reading more than I ever have. I’m at 55/100 books this year, and 2020’s chaotic situation + quarantine mandate has made it easy for me to read book after book.

TL;DR – I’m looking forward to creating more bookish content, and I’d love suggestions on what y’all would like to see & read. So stay tuned for more, and as always, happy reading! 📚
