My Overall Thoughts

I LOVED this book. Domestic suspense is one of my favorite sub-genres because the families seem so normal, but they’re anything but. MY LOVELY WIFE hit this topic to a tee. The characters are wicked & remorseless, but find sneaky ways to disguise their murderous personalities.

I devoured this book because it was fast-paced and chaotic. You’re put in the mindset of a couple who are truly demented, and my favorite part is that you see it from their perspective. In the couple’s eyes, murder is justified, and the first-person narration makes readers believe that too. The characters seem authentically sinister yet hauntingly normal.

MY LOVELY WIFE is dark, but it isn’t overly violent. It’s suspenseful, but it isn’t scary. Samantha Downing balances a perfect blend of chilling plot + character development, and she doesn’t shy away from plot twists. It’s a binge-worthy read that allows you to look inside the mind of serial killers, and a psychological thriller that will keep you guessing.

Should you read MY LOVELY WIFE?

Absolutely! I was hooked on this story about a seemingly normal couple. If you’re into thrillers, mysteries, murder, or psychopaths (uh…that is if you’re into reading about them I mean 😬), you need to read MY LOVELY WIFE by Samantha Downing.
